What is the most forgotten, but most used room that is overlooked and left behind? The laundry room! In any home, it is one of the most used rooms on a weekly if not daily basis. In my home, I use the laundry room multiple times a day. For some, it is a mudroom or passageway to the garage. So why is this the last on the list to be beautiful? Well, because it is not often thought of as a glamorous room. It can be dark and unattractive. Well, I am here to tell you that it can be a beautiful room.
In my own home, it was one of the first spaces to remodel. I had many reasons to remodel the last room of importance. The space was plain, dark, and boring. What was existing was not working for the needs of my family. There was no storage. It was dark and dreary. You can see the before and after here.
The space needed to be functional and pretty. Having three busy boys the laundry never seems to stop! Spending countless hours in a room with four walls needed to have many purposes. The space needed to have storage. Storage! Storage! Did I mention storage?! Yes, you can never have too much storage. Space planning began with storage being the main focus.
The end result turned out gorgeous, functional, light, bright, with plenty of storage. Adding the finishing touches such as lighting, hardware, simple accessories and wallpaper pulled the look together. Now this forgotten room is a room where I love spending time doing countless loads of laundry!
